raw
i went to this japanese restaurant last friday with my uni mates. i thought it was going to be the typical wan you know, with the sushi, ramen. i thought it was going to be cheap also. well, i was wrong.
before we went in, we had to take off our shoes and put them in a plastic bag. from then on, i knew this wasn't your typical japanese restaurant. anyway, i quickly tied my plastic bag as tight as possbile, heh.
so we were brought to our table and given the menu. i thought we were going to eat ramen, haahh. but we ended up ordering a plate of raw beef. it was the first for me lah, eating raw beef other than sushi. quite chewy. then we ordered also something like steam boat, but the soup the put in was more like "si yao". it was black in colour. along with the steamboat came a plate of vegetables, red raw meat, noodles and 2 eggs.
my friend collin asked who wanted the eggs, and gerald said he will share it with collin. so they both took one egg and cracked it into a bowl.
so gerald asked "so how're you going to cook it? pour into the soup?"
collin answered "hah? eat it like that lah. dip the meat in the egg and eat it like that. that's how they do it in japan"
gerald immediately dropped his chopsticks. hahah.

ohh, issit beef tataki? The one whereby you dip the raw beef into raw egg with some si yau sauce on it and raw onions? Gosh, your breath really smells after having beef tataki. But i know my HK friends like to crack a raw egg into their bowl and pour the soup fr the steamboat into it. The egg nvr really cooks. Eew...
